When you first meet her, Nancy's face may seem a little familiar to you. That's because she's also a spokesperson for the Washington National Guard. As a Public Affairs Officer she has been on the front lines of the forest fires in Yakima, spent time training with the Special Forces near Mt. Rainier and you may have seen her on the news this October. Nancy spent many long days working with the media to inform the public about airport security and air travel. She played a critical role in the SEATAC airport security mission. Nancy enjoys high-energy situations and that's why she loves weddings. "A wedding day is one of the most exciting events in a couple's life and my goal is to capture those memories in an artistic way. I want my clients to always remember the details, faces of loved ones and the fun they experienced." Nancy began her career in the photographic arts right after high school when she moved to Los Angeles, CA. During her first few years in LA, Nancy worked a progression of jobs in film/television culminating with the production of her own talk show for cable television in Pomona, Ca. Her direction of Trials to Triumph was well received and had a broadcast audience of more than 1 million people. During the same year of 1990, she was also an investigative reporter for Seven on Your Side in Washington, DC. After graduating from the University of LaVerne, she joined the military and became an Army photojournalist. Almost immediately, photographers throughout the Army recognized Nancy's view of the world. In 1993, she was awarded the Keith L. Ware award, the Army's highest honor for excellence in journalism. In the Republic of Korea she continued her photography and received a Korean American Friendship Award in 1996. Recently, Nancy, sought and achieved certification through the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), this is a prestigious honor that is shared by fewer than 20 photographers in all of Washington state. She is an active member of the Professional Photographers of Washington (PPW), and the Seattle Professional Photographers Association(SPPA), whose members are held to the highest professional standards, through which their creativity is challenged by regular artistic competitions. Today, Nancy owns and operates Seattle based Ultraviolet Studios with her husband, Doug Treder. Together they have built a photography business known for specializing in documentary style wedding photography. "I know brides expect much more from their photographer than just paper photos. They demand artistic documentation within the context of elegant portraiture. My approach is to translate wedding dreams into a photographic reality."
