Nancy Treder elected SPPA board member 6/19/2000 Nancy Treder, photographer and owner of Ultraviolet Studios was elected to serve as a board member of the Seattle Professional Photographers Association. She is the Vice-President of Marketing and Communications. The Seattle Professional Photographers Association is a group of responsible, dedicated and talented professionals. The Seattle Professional Photographers Association is the oldest Professional Photographer Association in the State of Washington. The members are dedicated to photography as their livelihood and profession. Members continue to develop their talents through monthly participation in the SPPA's continuing education programs and print competitions. Elegant Modern Photography, Just a Click Away (Originally published in Seattle Wedding Show Magazine January 2000 Issue) Due to the advances in information technology, today's brides want their photographers to be in step with their lifestyle. "Our clients want traditional elegance with a photojournalistic flair, access to their wedding images on the internet, and they need creative ways to share and display their photos," said Nancy Treder. Nancy and Doug Treder, owners of Ultraviolet Studios, Seattle, know that millenium brides need more from their photographer than just an album and reprints. They understand that a wedding is an expression of new beginnings and a photographer must translate those emotions and feelings into a photographic reality. Nancy captures several hundred images as she photographs one wedding per day, which is the key to her photographic intensity. "I used to be a military photographer so, I specialize in photojournalistic portraiture in order to capture the essence of a wedding. By using a mix of casual and traditional images in classic black and white, color, antique sepia and ethereal infrared prints we create an album of lasting memories." Nancy works closely with each couple to understand how they want to be photographed. "Some people are romantic, some are artistic, and others are carefree and casual. I encourage brides to show me photos of their favorite images in order to develop a theme for their photography." "Our wedding coverage starts with an engagement session which is included with most collections and we design a signature board to display at the reception," added Nancy. On the wedding day, Nancy may have one eye in the view finder but, the other is always looking for details, "I know someone special made the decorations and invitations or designed the wedding gown and flowers. By including these images in the album we tell the complete story while recognizing the beautiful craftsmanship of everyone involved." Doug and Nancy's goal is to assist their clients by offering album design, custom framing, vendor referrals and Y2K compliance. "Actually we can't really guarantee your wedding is Y2K compliant but, we can make the planning easier," said Doug. Doug designs the personal websites which include email links and message boards. "It just seemed logical to offer these services as an extension to the traditional wedding album. Our international clients share their electronic wedding albums with their friends and family around the world." Doug and Nancy Treder are former Army officers who turned in their combat boots for civilian shoes, but, Nancy still carries her camera in a rucksack.
